At Eternal Gold, we feel tremendously privileged to be able to offer kids’ ear lobe piercings for wee ones aged 8 and up. We respect our wee clients as much as our big ones, and we think kids have just as much of a right to privacy, cleanliness and quality piercings as adults do.
Having your child’s ears pierced can be a nerve-wracking experience for both child and parent, and we are proud to be able to assure you that we offer the absolute best for your child. Having your first lobe piercings can be a huge milestone for a child, and also one of the first times in their life they get to exercise their bodily autonomy and how they choose to express themselves. We think it’s important that this pivotal experience is facilitated in a space that places heavy respect on your child’s privacy, autonomy and decisions, so we ask that you attend a consultation beforehand. We love chatting to our younger clients about what sort of jewellery we have and how the appointment will go, with lots of time given for them to make up their mind and think about the process they are consenting to.
Unlike many “one in, one out” places where children may feel pressured to agree to things they are anxious about due to being hurried through the process or being in open view of the public, we give a truly private and bespoke experience for our young clientele. We want your kids to have a voice!
Needle not gun
Unlike high street shops where ears are pierced with poor quality jewellery and traumatic “gun” systems in an, open-air environment, we offer a sterile piercing procedure with a needle.
There are a few reasons we pierce with a needle instead of a gun or “piercing system”. The main one is that it hurts a lot less! A gun forces a blunt piece of jewellery through, severely damaging the surrounding skin and blood vessels. We use needles specially developed for piercing that are very sharp; they cut through with very minimal tissue trauma and create a clean wound. A wound made with something sharp heals far better than one made with something blunt!
Piercing guns and “systems” are also not able to be sterilised, which means they can introduce things like bacteria and other nasties into the wound. We use sterile single-use needles and implant grade titanium that is sterilised in house in our high end, medical grade autoclave.
All round, needles make for much happier ears, and much happier piercings!
The jewellery we use
You might have memories of a certain high street chain’s earrings turning your ears green; none of that here! We use implant grade verified titanium; this means it is the same safe, high quality, built-to-last material doctors and surgeons use for things like implants inside of the body.
We have a special selection of jewellery to chose from that is perfect for little ears! The package I have curated allows children to select jewellery without any hidden fee, it’s all included in the price.
They will be presented with a display of jewellery shown here to choose from. High street retailers catch out parents by presenting a display that has jewellery with vastly different pricing then allow parent guilt to get you to spend much more than intended.
All of the jewellery in this display is titanium and as said before will be included in the price. Upon request before the appointment, should you wish your wee one to have solid gold I can discuss the options and prices with you privately so there are no hidden costs. The cost of the package is in my booking section, this covers the jewellery your child chooses, the posts at the back, aftercare bag with neilmed piercing aftercare and the downsize appointment 6 after the initial piercing. The jewellery that will be used in this package is all by a company called Junipurr and the needles are Stilletto.
